Philosophy

My responsibility as a consultant, executive coach, adviser, and educator, is to continually update the descriptions we commonly accept that influence our mental fitness and make this information and thinking available, useful, and relevant to everyday living. Often times the more accurate information can be counterintuitive because we are not familiar with it or we are not used to abstract, and profound-sounding information which can be intimidating or off-putting. Some of us simply don’t have the time to figure out what is worth paying attention to as we are constantly bombarded with information. We also tend to reinforce our beliefs, assumptions, and biases out of habit, so nothing in this course might influence how we already see ourselves.

And that’s okay.

We are all unique individuals.

In terms of corporate philosophy, it is important for a company's culture to understand and appreciate the value of psychological safety, and when coaching one-on-one, my focus is on everyone's personal and professional development through education and problem-solving solutions.

Coaching is always confidential.

Regarding teaching, the primary goals are to help students learn the basic ideas, terms, theories, historical figures, and ideas related to the course material, and provide all the resources necessary for them to do well. More importantly, it is to provide relevant, relatable, and real-life examples to help students connect and make the associations between the course material and their everyday lives, so it has practical value. By doing so the most significant student learning objective is to help them grow, change, and evolve.

And in terms of coaching, mentoring, counseling, and educating in general, it is important to see everyone as unique individuals and treat them with kindness, compassion, empathy, non-judgment, and respect.
